3 Keys to Balance In Our Walk With God Greetings! Ecclesiastes 7:15-18: "In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these: a righteous an perishing in his righteousness, and a wicked man living long in his wickedness. Do not be over-righteous, neither be over-wise-- why destroy yourself? Do not be over-wicked, and do not be a fool-- why die before your time? It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other. The man who fears God will avoid all extremes." I believe Solomon is speaking of being "superspiritual" and being licentious. Both extremes need to be avoided. An over-righteous attitude (pharisaic) comes from lacking in grace and mercy. A licentious attitude c from lack of love, self-discipline and righteous instruction. Micah 6:8 "He has showed you, O an, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and walk humbly with your God." Here are the three key things to focus on: 1- ACT justly. I want to be conscious of justice and fairness, like my Lord. I don't want to be partial, or selfish. 2- LOVE mercy. I can only pray that I never forget the cross... 3- WALK humbly. ACTION is the key on this one. I need to walk, and I need to do it knowing who my Lord is and in full submission of Him and you! GRACE, FAITH and WORKS... All summarized here. The dynamics between these are too deep for me to completely realize the implications. I can only pray that I may rely on my Lord in prayer and study of the Word every day that Jesus is fully realized in me. Will you ACT, LOVE and WALK with me, friend? Pedro G. Isaiah 64:8 But now, O LORD, Thou art our Father, We are the clay, and Thou our potter; And all of us are the work of Thy hand. The problems
you face will either defeat you or develop you, depending on how you
respond to them. Unfortunately most people fail to see how God wants to
use problems for good in their lives. They react foolishly and resent
their problems rather than pausing to consider what benefit they might
bring. Here are five ways God wants to use the problems in your life: 1. God uses
problems to DIRECT you. Sometimes God must light a fire under you to get
you moving. Problems often point us in a new direction and motivate us to
change. Is God trying to get your attention? "Sometimes it takes a
painful situation to make us change our ways." Proverbs
20:30 (GN) 2. God uses
problems to INSPECT you. People are like tea bags. . . if you want to know
what's inside them, just drop them into hot water! Has God ever tested
your faith with a problem? What do problems reveal about you? "When
you have many kinds of troubles, you should be full of joy, because you
know that these troubles test your faith, and this will give you
patience." James 1:2-3 (NCV) 3. God uses problems to CORRECT you. Some lessons we learn only through pain and failure. It's likely that as a child your parents told you not to touch a hot stove. But you probably learned by being burned. Sometimes we only learn the value of something ... health, money, a relationship... by losing it. ". . . It was the best thing that could have happened to me, for it taught me to pay attention to your laws." Psalm
119:71-72 (LB) 4. God uses problems to PROTECT you. A problem can be a blessing in disguise if it prevents you from being harmed y something more serious. Last year a friend was fired for refusing to do something unethical that his boss had asked him to do. His unemployment was a problem - but it saved him from being convicted and sent to prison a year later when management's actions were eventually discovered. "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good. . ." Genesis
50:20 (NIV) 5. God uses
problems to PERFECT you. Problems, when responded to correctly, are
character builders. God is far more interested in your character than your
comfort. Your relationship to God and your character are the only two
things you're going to take with you into eternity. "We can rejoice
when we run into problems. . . they help us learn to be patient. And
patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more
each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and
steady." Romans 5:3-4 (LB) Here's the
point: God is at work in your life - even when you do not recognize it or
understand it. But it's much easier and profitable when you cooperate with

"He is before all things, and in Him all things hold

H * A * L * L * O * W * E * E * N Dedicated to Bob Carr, Lisa Barnes & Katrina Watkins written October 31, 1995 It has been seven years to the day That I last went under the knife. What a cold and somber day that was; The most pain I have felt in my life! I was an immature man of 26 back then; My freshman year in collegiate studies. The doctors, the nurses, the medics, the patients - For this I had not been ready. My life was to change during this incarceration In many more ways than one. For Bob and Lisa and (Frenchie) Katrina Introduced me to God's only Son. I had taken for granted the beauty of autumn; The changing of the color guard through fall. Left only to watch from a lonely window In a hectic medical center hall. Today I am free to deeply breathe in The crisp, fresh air of October. And to live for Jesus Christ my love - And to tell everyone how I got over! It would be another five long years Before I'd actually be submerged. But I'll never forget how sweetly they loved me, Yet how strongly His message they urged! This day may well be Halloween for many, But it's Thanksgiving Day for me. A day to remember the pain I suffered, And how from it Christ set me free! |
